The Friday 56

04 Sep

From Storytime With Tonya and Friends:

Rules:
* Grab the book nearest you. Right now.
* Turn to page 56.
* Find the fifth sentence.
* Post that sentence (plus one or two others if you like) along with these instructions on your blog or (if you do not have your own blog) in the comments section of this blog.
* Post a link along with your post back to this blog.
* Don’t dig for your favorite book, the coolest, the most intellectual. Use the CLOSEST.

babydollThe nearest book is one I’m reading for a blog tour this week: Babydoll by Allyson Roy. I’m not even to page 56 yet, but looking ahead gives us:

“Which reminds me, have you ever met Buxol Peterson? I noticed he supports some of the same nonprofit groups as you.” Although Lana still handled a few loyal psychotherapy clients, she spent a good bit of her time and money fighting the woes of the world though her charities, while pursuing peace and pleasure in her personal life.

I think this is the first time in the four weeks I’ve been participating that the 56-5 formula has failed me. I have to say, that’s not a very interesting quote, and it’s not representative of the book so far. With the main character being a sex therapist, there were sentences that were much more interesting in the first 38 pages.

I think the book will be much more fun than this quote suggests– I hope I’m right! 🙂

      The conversation she has with her mother is hilarious– I’ll try to post a little piece of it later!
