Thank you to those that commented on my nominations post– I’m told they did influence several people’s votes!

I haven’t read a single one, but they look like a nice variety!

A friend has raved about The Graveyard Book and The Book Thief. I’ve heard good things about Julia and Julie too. Looks like a great selection.

I like your variety. :) My book club talked about doing non-fiction, but my objection to it is that non-fiction is difficult to discuss. You either agree or you don’t, you can’t really discuss non-fiction the way you can fiction. So I’ll be interested to hear about your discussion of Three Cups of Tea! :)

I’m also happy with the variety.

We actually had a pretty good discussion of Welcome to Biotech Nation, getting into some of the ethical issues dealt with in the book as well as the story of how the show happened. We had more people concerned about how we’ll discuss the short stories in Unaccustomed Earth!

Thanks for sharing your list. You know I thoroughly enjoyed Julie and Julia (wasn’t able to get my BC to read this though).

We are reading Olive Kitteridge in November too – would your BC be interested in discussing the book with our group (for 30-40 mins)? Email me if you might be interested (We can call you via skype or to a phone with speaker capabilities). I loved this story.

Love Walked in – good choice, sweet book

My BC has read the Book Thief, Three Cups of Tea and Unaccustomed Earth.

Solid list!

I hope your book club is better about reading “Unaccustomed Earth” than mine was! Only two of us actually finished it–apparently none of the others really like to read collections of short stories. We’re also going to be reading “Olive Kittridge” in November. I’m thinking that should generate a good discussion.

I finally finished Unaccustomed Earth! You are right about short stories… I like a LONG book, and generally stay was from short story collections.

Can’t wait to discuss Olive Kitteridge.

Can’t wait to hear what your club has to say about Unwind. It was kind of disturbing.
